Kids-Skateboards
ATTENTION!
DEAR "LAYMEN," PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
When most people think of "kids' skateboards," they picture a pro-style shape (the "popsicle" shape)—just smaller. We at the SubVert Skate School recommend these boards EXCLUSIVELY for advanced Kids. To make quick progress right from the start, you need a wide stance—without standing on the front kicktail, or "nose."
She manages it thanks to a very wide stance—though one should strictly avoid standing on the front of the lever as well; that would require a longer wheelbase.

For this, you don't need a long nose (the section in front of the front axle), but rather a long wheelbase—meaning a large distance between the axles; this is abbreviated as "WB" in deck specifications, followed by the length in inches.
how to measure your inseam (Schrittlänge). For advanced riders, you can roughly assume a 2:1 ratio—for example, a 76 cm stance width corresponds to a 38 cm (or 15-inch) wheelbase. |

We often recommend standard-sized skateboards for young children just starting out: longer and wider means more stability and faster progress. Plus, the board remains usable even if it spends most of its time sitting in a corner and the child doesn't discover a true love for skateboarding until their teenage years. If a young child does progress quickly, you can simply buy a smaller board as a second one; the larger board can be used later or serve as a cruiser (for covering distance) in the meantime.
